The Art League

Founded in 1954, The Art League, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational nonprofit organization. The League is a multifaceted visual arts organization that meets its mission through its gallery, fine art school, art supply store, and arts-outreach programs.

The Art League Gallery holds monthly juried exhibits and special exhibits including solo artists, student shows, and the Patrons’ Show. Exhibits are free and open to the public. All artists can become members and submit work to our monthly exhibits, juried by noted fine art professionals from throughout the Washington area and beyond.

The Art League School is a non-accredited institution, open to all, that provides instruction to nearly 7,000 students annually. Courses are offered quarterly in virtually all of the fine arts, and a wide variety of crafts, with some of the most talented and well known artists and instructors in the country. Courses are offered for every skill level to ages five and up.

The Art League Store, staffed by working artists, provides members and students with exceptional quality, low priced art supplies. As a convenience to our students, members, and supporters, supplies and materials requested by Art League instructors are sold here.

The Art League’s outreach programming uses the visual arts as a catalyst to reach out to the underserved in our community with programs like IMPART, SOHO, and the Geri Gordon Scholarship Fund.
