Douglas Flynt’s (b. 1978) artistic education includes a BFA and a BA in History and Criticism of Art from Florida State University as well as a MFA from the New York Academy of Art. While studying at Florida State University he apprenticed with the vice chair of the Portrait Society of America, Edward Jonas. Later he studied under Jacob Collins and Michael Grimaldi at the Water Street Atelier. In addition he has studied drawing with Anthony Ryder.
Flynt’s teaching experience includes numerous workshops and classes, as well as instructing privately in his atelier.
Flynt’s subject matter ranges from still-life and trompe l’oeil, to interiors and figurative works. It has been said of Flynt that “His works are composed with a precise allure and rendered in great detail. His colors are bold and sure; and his use of light and shadows is compelling.”
